Stability of Financial Systems

Performance of financial services affects positively or negatively overall economy, GVA and lives of ordinary people. The current economic crises pushed the UK into a double dip recession. In the last quarter of 2012 the UK economy contracted by 0.3% fuelling fears of a looming triple dip recession. Stability of financial markets is a necessary condition for the long term sustainable economic growth.

OMI targets to become a vehicle for understanding of this complex universe by relying on its quantitative strength. Regulatory changes in Europe and the US will have profound effect on the physical and derivative markets. Additional capital charges, taxes on financial transactions, development of the shadow banking and hedge fund industry, deleveraging and funding of pension liabilities paint a very complex picture that researchers in OMI would like to understand.
